Want To Work in Film? Here's How to Start

Episode 1

I think people think of the film industry so individualistic and I think that is a part of what makes it so difficult to get into to and be a part of. Everyone thinks:

“I wanna be a first AC” or “I want to be a cinematographer”

and thats how they operate. But I quickly learned from being on set that, to me that isn’t the way. And we set out at C&I to do everything totally different. I didn’t just want to a be director. I wanted to make movies with my friends, like I did when I was 16. That was went it felt the best. Just hanging out, filming movies with your parents camera, using everything in your house that you could. It was THAT for me. So I didn’t just want to be a Cinematographer, or Director. What I wanted was deeper and bigger than that. I wanted to be Paramount. I wanted a real film community with the same people. I didn’t want to get hired myself, I wanted my entire team to be hired. And that path is far more difficult than just trying to be gaffer. But the reward on the other side is something I could have never imagined.
