This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. Which is saying a lot cause I’m a black guy that started his own production company. I know I have a few Hot Seat questions about starting a production company soon, so I won’t get into all that now. But ever since I was young all I wanted to do is tell stories on camera. It’s how I spent all my free time from the age of 4 to now. Its been my hobby, and as I grew it became my career.
It’s the hardest job I’ve ever had. I almost can’t describe it. It makes no sense how hard it is. But its essentially a job you can never get into. Everyone can log onto instagram and change their bio to “director” but to get into the DGA, and get paid to direct studio films is just another level of difficult and perseverance that you have to tap into. I knew i had thick skin but holy moly. It’s not something I would ever recommend for anyone in the world to do.
The only way to do this is to love it.
